Make-up Remover Pad

Bonus for Nose Bleed

Most of this was written while preparing the release of the album. Many things were added after the final render of the album, too!

Trivia

General trivia about the album...

Song-specific Trivia

Format Drive

It almost had vocals from a scrap, but I never managed to make them fit in.
(vocals were from the early V1 mixes of Identity Crisis)

Mime

This is the first song I made for the album! It wasn't even originally meant for an album, iirc. After making it, I thought "hey, I could make an album actually", and here we are.
The glitches on the vocals were tweaked again and again, until I had the not-so-bright idea of keeping the first and next-to-last beats of each verse untouched. It allows for just the ending to get repeated, and makes for a cool effect.
The music video is rather old, I had my hair cut a bit since. It was messy and damaged in the video, if you look carefully.

Woke Vermin

A very late addition to the album. Originally, this song was called Achy Revolution, I ended up managing to restore it back into existence by rebooting it.
(more info about Achy Revolution further down below)

Slick 41

It was made from Achy Revolution, a scrapped song you can find in this bonus! In fact, some of the instruments from that song were ungracefully copied over to Slick 41.
This song's kick sample is good for the environment. (this is a joke I will NOT explain)

Therapist (Interlude)

I don't talk about this interlude much, but it is indeed me talking in all of these clips.
On a sadder note, I found making this very therapeutic. (hence the name) I did not act the voice lines, it just occured to me after the events that it would be a solid idea for an interlude.
And yes, of course, it samples something. I had to.
Used to be named "andsometimesthepainshowsthrough".

Dolphins After All

This song went through a bunch. It went through multiple structural reworks, and now I'm really happy about this song.

Identity Crisis

Has an unused crash. I can't get any crash to sound good in these.
Aaaand some unused lyrics as well!

had i known
the etiquettes
were all fake

There was also something about "head or tail", related to the binarity of gender. I ended up not talking about my non-binarity in the song, but I should've honestly.

A Light Before The World Falls To The Ignorant

Early on, I accidentally found another song that fit extremely well, so I helped myself by building on top of it instead. Very fun process, by the way.
It went through a lot of different names, such as:

Alphas & Betas

Old versions of existing songs...
IDs are untitled songs...

ID "lastnite"

Shoutouts to Josh. Reused some of Mime's randomizer logic at some point.
This is from an old live set I was working on in early 2024, and the idea for the James Burke sample, used in Slick 41 comes from this song!

ID "wall" [1.0]

A very simple chop, but I knew something had to be done from this idea. It was made as an intro from the beginning.

ID "wall" [1.1]

Bass and drums, woohoo! This goes on to be the sample used in the actual Format Drive song present in Nose Bleed.

ID "sampling_idea"

Early chops of the final sample used in Format Drive. As you can tell by the ending, I switched project file entirely.

Mime [1.X]

Now, this is the part where I talk about how I made Mime.
The repeater is pseudo-random, written in Lua. Yeah, I coded for this song.
This alpha uses a different seed for the randomization, which I thought was cool to add.
Fun fact: The seed for the final song is 722444!

Mime [2.2]

It features worse mixing and a more repetitive second half. I thought it was interesting on a music production stand point to put this in as bonus.

Mime (second loop vocal outtake)

Very early second loop vocals. Not processed, offpitch, yada yada.
It was the second time I had sung for music in my whole life, so it was complicated and stressful...
Also I do remember wanting to sing this verse but I was sick, this was probably my earliest attempt.

Achy Revolution [Unreleased]

An old version of Woke Vermin, it was eventually rebooted.
This song was originally called "Linguistics - 8:30am", and I've forgotten why.

ID "hopeless"

This sample is far too niche to be used for a full song, but it sounds kinda neat.

Slick 41 [1.X]

A low quality older version of Slick 41. Different chords, no vocals.
Fun fact, this bonus was mostly written before vocals were added to the song, which shows how late they were added in!

Dolphins After All [1.X]

How are things, Dolphin? This is the period where I settled on the name "Sophie Indoll", it contracts to "So-phindoll", and that's a very cool dolphin I've just referenced.

Dolphins After All [2.1]

Older structure for the pink dolphin song. Honestly this would've been forgettable.

ID "seldom"

Couldn't get this anywhere, despite the fact that it sounds cool imo.

ID "res" [2.0]

The song was about a particular relationship. This theme is reoccuring in other songs that made it into the album.
Relistening now, the lyrics are just clumsy and a bit corny. I'm not a particularly good writer, in all honesty. The vocal processing wasn't really on point either. The mixing is overall just worse, lol.
I didn't like how it felt as a song either. I wanted something more pop-y, so I bumped up the whole thing by a semiton, and called it a day with different lyrics!
It was called something that is lost to time, now.

Lyrics

I know it went too quick
a hopeless romantic
can't blame you, we weren't fit
guilt there was, I admit

I thought I was at my prime
had I known, I'd taken time
there were no reasons to whine
in the end, it was fine

Adieu [2.0]

Uses the old name for A Light Before The World Falls To The Ignorant.

Old album covers

V1

V1 cover is where the album name is from. Nose Bleed, "Girlboss" kind of vibe.
It is a picture of the sink in my old apartment, where I had just had intense nose bleeds, and added some leftover used make-up remover pads. Thinking about it, it's probably gross for some of you...

V2

V2 cover is the same, except overlaid with the result of printer failures. Very pretty pieces of paper.

It is a super cool image! This one is compressed, the original scan is - I wish I was joking - 247MB!

Early sketches (drawn by Daemiryon)

I was already super excited. It is also the cover of the music files in this bonus!
Please check out his work!

Unused single cover

Looks goofy.
